DR. SILVIA FERABOLLI
Dr. Silvia Ferabolli
Silvia Ferabolli is a Lecturer in the Department of Economics and International Relations at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS, Brazil), where she also coordinates the Research Group on the International Relations of the Arab World (NUPRIMA). She holds a PhD in Politics and International Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS, University of London). In 2023, she was a Visiting Fellow with the Council on Middle East Studies (CMES) at the MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale University. In 2024, Dr Ferabolli was awarded with a three-year Research Productivity Fellowship from the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq).
Silvia Ferabolli é Professora Adjunta no Departamento de Economia e Relações Internacionais da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), onde também coordena o Núcleo de Pesquisa sobre as Relações Internacionais do Mundo Árabe (NUPRIMA). Realizou seu Doutorado em Política e Estudos Internacionais na Escola de Estudos Orientais e Africanos da Universidade de Londres (SOAS). Em 2023, foi Visiting Scholar no MacMillan Center Council on Middle East Studies da Universidade de Yale, nos Estados Unidos. Em 2024, a Dra. Ferabolli recebeu uma Bolsa de Produtividade em Pesquisa com duração de três anos do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq).
“It is my contention that the attitude of debasement and erasure towards Arab regionalism that is common-place in International Relations weakens state and non-state regional organizations in the Arab world and very few are benefiting from it. That is why I propose that the several regional institutions that bind the Arab region together receive more scholarly and political attention and support.
